Joining up with Lisa Jo @ Gypsy Mama for another Five Minute Friday.
Today's prompt? The word cherished...
kissing Pop-pop |
If there was only one thing I could wish for all people who are, were or ever will be alive, I think I'd wish that each one would know what if feels like to be cherished...
...to be held or treated as dear ~
...to be tenderly cared for and nurtured ~
...to know he or she is valued tremendously and considered precious by another person ~
...carefully, attentively sustained and nourished for the purpose of strengthening ~
...offered a place protected & safe, a harbor for weathering storms that always come ~
to hear with the heart mon cher... ma chérie ~
I've been blessed to know all of that at a little house in a little town just about as far south as you can get in the state of Illinois and still be in the state... at Nana and Pop-pop's house.
I'm the oldest grandkid and I've always been convinced deep in my heart that I'm their chou chou... and perfectly okay with that.
We found out last night that my grandfather had a heart attack and is in the hospital. Nana is sick with pneumonia and my parents are on their way to be with them.
I wish I could be on my way, too...
Pop-pop was a paratrooper in WWII. |
Nana and Pop-pop, just a few months ago. I think they are such a handsome couple... still! |
Pop-pop out "bird-huntin" in his carharts... Nana made me a quilt out of his old workshirts and carharts. I brought it to Niger with me... |

Got five minutes? Come and write with us!
Here are the "rules!"
"...we write for five minutes flat on Fridays.
We write because we love words and the relief it is to just write them without worrying if they’re just right or not. So we take five minutes on Friday and write like we used to finger paint. For joy in the process. No matter how messy the result.
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Please visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. That is like the one rule we all really care about. For reals."
Hope to see your link... and have blessed weekend.
I'm so sorry about your grandfather! Praying for all of you...so blessed to read how cherished you are. :) (visiting from Lisa-Jo)
