Banana Harvest

We've harvested two batches of bananas, now.

A third one is ripening on the tree, but this bunch doesn't look as healthy. It hasn't been hot or sunny enough, I'm guessing.

They are yummy to eat right off the tree (as long as they are ripe), made into banana bread, banana pie and banana pudding once they start getting too ripe, frozen for ice cream and banana smoothies, and we also discovered that they  make a great banana chip when lightly fried if they aren't quite ripe.

It's kinda cool having bananas growing in our garden!

And it puts to good use all of our shower water and washing machine water.

Tim's convinced that banana plants like shampoo and laundry detergent!
